The pod playbook worked, until it didn't

What LinkedIn is actually detecting

The mechanics matter here because they explain why pods are a bad long-term bet even when they produce short-term numbers.

Per Socialnexis, LinkedIn runs two separate suppression systems. A pre-impression spam classifier fires in 200 milliseconds at post creation, before any distribution even starts. A second, behavioral layer fires after initial distribution and looks at engagement signals, not the text of the post itself. That second layer is the one pods walk straight into. It doesn't care whether your writing is good. It cares whether the pattern of who engaged with you, and when, looks organic or manufactured.

Deloitte denied it. Whether or not you buy the denial, the incident shows this isn't a fringe accusation. People with audience-tracking tools can see pod fingerprints from the outside, and so can LinkedIn.

The honest objection

The counterargument is that pod engagement, even manufactured, sometimes turns into real conversations and real pipeline. Sure, occasionally. But look at where B2B pipeline actually comes from.
